Article No. AK-OPH-014

The Haase/Hohemann visual acuity chart is a proven diagnostic tool for the quantitative assessment of visual acuity and the differentiated detection of separation difficulties (crowding phenomenon). It is based on the Haase/Hohmann distance C-Test and uses Landolt rings as optotypes in four straight orientations (top, bottom, right, left). This makes its use, especially for preschool children, easier compared to more complex variants with eight positions. A key advantage of this visual acuity chart is the ability to reliably detect separation difficulties as an indicator of amblyopia even in early stages and to monitor the course of occlusion therapy on an evidence-based basis. By specifically comparing single optotypes and row optotypes – the latter with realistically closely spaced symbols – you can assess the ability to distinguish and recognise closely adjacent visual signs in a differentiated manner. The crowding phenomenon, particularly relevant in amblyopic patients, can be measured according to current scientific standards thanks to the specific arrangement and framing of the Landolt rings. Compliance with DIN EN ISO 8596 regarding visual acuity values, size of Landolt ring
