The LEA™ Symbols single symbol book is used to determine the visual acuity threshold in children and adults. The book with the different symbols - circle, square, house and apple - is held out to the patient in different sizes and at different distances. The ring binder book is supplied with a response key and cover. The cover can be used to hide the other symbols on a page. The recommended test distance for this eye test is 3 m. Initially, the patient is shown the large optotypes at a close distance. The distance is then gradually increased. If the patient's attention decreases, it can be assumed that the visual resolution has reached its limit. The visual acuity threshold is reached when at least three symbols of one size have been named correctly.
