Description

This anatomical model is three-dimensional and colours the inner and outer structure of the HIV virus in a cross section. The HIV virus model is mounted on a white plastic base on a tripod and cannot be disassembled. Infection with HIV leads to AIDS after varying incubation times. The human immunodeficiency virus is among the complex retroviruses, and is classified under the subtypes of HIV-1 and HIV-2. The progression of HIV infection can be alleviated with the help of medication, as the viral load is reduced by these drugs; however, there is currently no cure for HIV.
