Description

The Wartenberg Pinwheel is a small sensitivity testing tool originally designed by Robert Wartenberg. It consists of a fixed handle bar and a small rotating wheel covered in pins. The neurological diagnostic device is made of stainless medical steel and can be both disinfected and sterilised. In order to diagnose a condition, the Wartenberg pinwheel is slowly rolled over the affected skin areas and the patient is to describe the sensation. Therefore, the pressure and pain stimuli can be graded in terms of severity. The pins on the Wartenberg pinwheel are sharp enough to stimulate specific points without penetrating the skin.For hygienic reasons, we recommend disinfecting the pins and the wheel after each use with a patient.
