Description

Surgicryl® MONOFILAMENT with Needle is a synthetic, resorbable monofilament suture made of polydioxanone. It combines high, long-lasting tensile strength with a predictable absorption profile, providing reliable support for the adaptation of soft tissue. It is particularly suitable for applications in general and visceral surgery, as well as gynaecology and plastic surgery. Thanks to its uniform diameter, the suture passes smoothly through tissue, helping to minimise tissue drag and tissue trauma. As a monofilament, it has no capillary action, which limits the potential for bacterial migration along the suture. The suture undergoes hydrolytic resorption and is completely absorbed within approximately 180 to 210 days. Approximately 50% of the tensile strength is retained after 42 days, providing continued support for wounds that require longer-term suture support. The combination of good flexibility, suppleness and excellent knot-sliding characteristics facilitates secure and efficient knot tying. The suture is supplied sterile in airtight packaging and includes a needle, providing a ready-to-use solution for soft-tissue adaptation.
