Description

VICRYL™ Plus Sutupak™ is a resorbable, antibacterial-coated suture material based on polyglactin 910, designed for safe and effective wound closure. The coating with IRGACARE® MP (triclosan) helps reduce bacterial colonisation of the suture material, lowering the risk of postoperative infections caused by pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA) and Staphylococcus epidermidis. The material is braided, providing excellent knot security and controlled handling during suturing. Its medium-term tensile strength ensures stable wound support, with approximately 75% strength after 2 weeks and 50% after 3 weeks. It is suitable for soft tissue approximation and ligation, including applications in general surgery, microsurgery, gastrointestinal surgery, gynaecology, urology, and orthopaedics. VICRYL™ Plus Sutupak™ is needle-free, allowing flexible selection of surgical needles depending on procedural requirements. Complete resorption typically occurs within 56 to 70 days, leaving no residual suture material in the tissue.
