Description

The PEEP valve creates an extrinsically positive end-expiratory pressure in the lungs. The advantage of bag resuscitation by using a positive end-expiratory pressure comes in the prevention of an end-expiratoric closing of the respiratory tract and alveoli. This leads to an improvement of oxygenation and aeration of atelectatic alveoli. Because the haemodynamic and respiratory risks like degradation of the cardiac output and over-inflation of healthy alveoli must be considered, a pressure setting of 10 cmH2O on the PEEP valve is not exceeded under normal circumstances. For specific indications like extreme or refractive hypoxaemia, we offer models with a settable PEEP pressure up to 20 cmH2O. The PEEP valves are reusable and free of latex and DEHP (diethylhexylphthalate). The PEEP valve can be autoclaved at 134°C and is supplied with an adapter.
