Description
The Heimlich valve from Dahlhausen is suitable as a backflow protection for thoracic drainage systems. For this purpose, the valve is placed between the thoracic catheter and the patient tube to prevent the backflow of air into the pleural cavity. At the same time, the drainage valve enables the continuous escape of secretion and air from the pleural cavity. Due to the oscillation of the latex membrane inside the valve, visual monitoring of the pleural pressure is possible during inspirations.
