Description

The BD Cathena™ Safety IV Catheter features innovative Instaflash needle technology, enabling low-pain insertion and immediate confirmation of successful venous access. The smooth, tapered catheter tip and advanced BD Vialon biomaterial, which is rigid before insertion but becomes soft inside the body, contribute to longer dwell times and reduce the risk of mechanical phlebitis. The Multiguard™ technology minimises the need for venous compression, reducing potential contamination exposure for healthcare personnel. An integrated anti-rotation tab ensures tactile control during insertion, while the passive safety system shields the needle upon retraction, providing reliable protection against needlestick injuries. The catheter is available with or without wings, in various sizes, and includes a detachable vent cap for specific requirements. It is also suitable for pressure injections up to 325 psi.
