Description

Becton Dickinson's ready-to-use and closed BD Nexiva™ IV single port catheter system minimises potential sources of contamination, reducing the risk of infection. Due to the biocompatible catheter material and the non-puncture manipulation via the integrated tube extension, longer catheter retention time is ensured. To reliably prevent puncture and scratch injuries, the system has a passive cannula protection. After extraction of the cannula, the septum completely closes the catheter so that the vein does not need to be occluded. In addition, the closed septum prevents blood contact when the cannula is removed. While the 24 gauge catheter system should not be used with contrast injectors, all other sizes from 18G to 22G can be combined with it.
