Description
The BinaxNOW™ Malaria test by Abbott is an immunochromatographic in vitro rapid test for the qualitative detection of Plasmodium antigens in EDTA-treated whole blood. Only a small sample obtained via finger prick is required to deliver reliable results within just 15 minutes. This enables rapid differentiation between infections caused by Plasmodium falciparum and other, less virulent malaria parasites such as P. vivax, P. ovale and P. malariae. With a high sensitivity of 99.7% for P. falciparum and a high specificity for P. vivax (99.8%), the test is a valuable tool in acute diagnostic settings. Thanks to its simple handling with only one reagent, it is particularly well suited for time-critical situations in routine clinical workflows. BinaxNOW™ Malaria is intended exclusively for professional in vitro diagnostic use and is available in various pack sizes.
