Description

The BinaxNOW™ Positive Control provides an external quality control for the BinaxNOW Malaria Test. It helps verify that the test reagents and procedure are functioning correctly, supporting reliable quality control alongside patient testing. To use the control, reconstitute the lyophilised material with deionised water and mix it with a pool of malaria-negative blood. Then perform the test according to the usual procedure. A positive result on both test strips – for Plasmodium falciparum (HRP II) and for all malaria species – confirms that the test is working correctly. The positive control is also useful as a training tool for new users, helping them become familiar with the test procedure and recognise potential errors early. Store the control at 2–8 °C. Reconstituted aliquots can be frozen, providing flexibility for routine quality control and helping to make efficient use of the control material.
