The ISO transponder is the global standard transponder, placed under the skin to identify small animals such as dogs. The ISO transponder contains a globally unique 15-digit number code to identify the animal unambiguously. It is a passive chip that only reveals its data to the electromagnetic waves of the chip reader. It is injected gently using a separately available disposable or reusable injector. Generally, neither an aesthetic nor a sedation is required for this procedure. The cannula of the ISO transponder is only slightly larger than normal veterinary needles.
