Description

The NucleoProtect® VET swab tubes from Macherey-Nagel are used for molecular diagnostic PCR testing in veterinary medicine. After collecting the sample from the nose, throat or mouth of the animal, the swab is placed in the tube pre-filled with NucleoProtect® reagent and cut off at the predetermined breaking point. This is picked up by the integrated swab holder while the screw cap is being screwed on and enables simple and safe sampling. The NucleoProtect® reagent stabilises viral nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) while immediately inactivating the infectious viruses. This process enables the most accurate analyses and provides reliable results. Furthermore, thanks to the preservation, cooling of the samples is unnecessary and thus, in addition to safe storage, safe transport is also ensured. For secure sample tracking, each swab tube has double barcode labels with a tightenable section.
